Matiz releases Confluencia

El Cerrito Studio congratulates Sexteto Matiz for the release of their first abum "Confluencia."  This Latin album is a mix of Cuban songs, with hints of Bossa Nova and Mexican Rancheras seamlessly crafted with modern arrangements and masterful interpretations by musicians: Michael Crager (piano), Norma Arias (lead vocals), Dominic Cabrera (conga), David Pinto (bass), Ayla Davila (bass), Jane Lenoir (flute), and Neftali Rosado (bongó).

Confluencia was recorded live at the studio and is an acoustic project in its majority with the exception of the use of the electric bass.  Mike Crager played the El Cerrito Studio Yamaha Baby Grand piano, which sounded beautiful in Mike's skillful hands.  Each musician made an enormous contribution to this album with their talent and dedication.  The entire project was Engineered by Oscar Autie using Pro Tools and Oscar's favorite UAD collection of plugings.  When the album was complete, Mike stated "Thank you very much to you [Kenya] and Oscar for the marvelous work you did on this project.  We've never sounded better!"

The organization of this project was a fundamental factor for success.  It is delightful when musicians walk in the studio knowing the material and having a plan to achieve their goals.  Mike Crager (also arranger and producer) and his hard-working musicians accomplished their vision.  In Matiz's own words, this album is "danceable as well as listenable...a delight for the ears and the feet!
